Fabulous stab at Question 5 from Ryan Archer

Write a brief article for a website of your choice telling your readers about an interesting or unusual journey or travel experience you have had.  Explain why it was memorable.

It’s Pedro Time

Why I like Majorca and my new special friend!

Where is the most memorable tourist destination? New York? Paris?  No. Majorca! Yes Majorca.  With it’s beautiful beaches and numerous seaside resorts you’d be stupid not to go there. The small, Spanish island is the perfect destination for travellers who just want to: shop, eat and relax.

I must have been to Majorca at least three times now and one thing there is definitely no lack of? Restaurants. The expression “eat, drink and be merry” may very well have originated from the little island; there is a bar, club or restaurant on every street! The food, however, is not only plentiful but also delicious! Whether you simply want a taste of home with some fish and chips or you want to try a traditional Paella, there is something for everyone ,and the price isn’t bad either. I went to a little restaurant named The Rhine on my last visit and had a colossal three course meal for under ten Euros!

But the meals aren’t the only large things on the island. The beaches are massive! With clear blue water and hot golden sand the beaches of Majorca must be amongst the best in the world. I remember when I first wandered into the massive pool of blue, aged six, and seeing the small black fish circling me and nibbling my feet. Later that same day we went on a trip to C’ala D’or and found a small cove filled with vibrant, purple jellyfish. At the time I was awe struck and that moment has stayed with me forever.

The hotel I stayed in the last time had possibly the best bartender I’ve ever met. Named Pedro you can image a tall, greasy haired Spanish man with a large six pack. However he turned out to be a small man with a pot belly and a bald head. Good start. On the first day when I approached with my all inclusive band he seemed a nice enough fella’ giving me my drink and wishing me a happy holiday. But by the end of  my two week stay I had made a very good friend. He helped us get around, told us the best restaurants and gave me a triple shot of Bacardi and coke. As I said, good friend.

So will I return to the island of Majorca? Yes. Why? Pedro…

And the food!

    Majorca
Why do I love Majorca? I love Majorca because of the gorgeous beaches and the numerous tourist attractions scattered around the island. Majorca is the perfect holiday destination for practically everybody! There’s pubs, clubs, restaurants and of course gorgeous beaches all over the island.
I have visited Majorca at least seven times with my family because there is no way you could possibly get bored of the scorching sunshine and the exquisite beaches that Majorca possesses. For the past two years I have stayed in Palma Nova, a resort neighbouring the wild, exciting Magaluf. One thing I remember about Palma Nova is being able to get a free shuttle bus from my hotel with my friend Connor and being able to wander around the shops for hours on end looking at all sorts of little trinkets, toys and souvenirs. I also vividly remember going to the most amazing ice cream stall ever where we purchased a Baileys Liquor ice cream; it was extremely delicious. After traipsing round all sorts of stores and stalls we sank our feet into the hot, golden sand of Palma nova beach and went for a paddle in the crystal clear waters where exotic fish raced around our ankles.
Aside from the beautiful beaches of Majorca they also out on the best dinner show in the world! Literally. A Pirates Adventure has been given a Global Entertainment award by First Choice for its spectacular acrobatics and amazing dancing that will leave you in awe for the full three hours. I have seen this show three times and my jaw has never failed to drop.
One thing I loved about this year’s trip to Majorca is meeting with my friend Connor. He lives in Wigan and I had met him at the same resort in 2010. It was lovely seeing him again and reliving all of the memories that we had. The best bit had to be on my last night when we found an adult all inclusive wrist band and replaced for my child’s band which got us free Malibu and coke for the rest of the night!
I will definitely return to Majorca because there is always so much to do and I will never get bored of A Pirates Adventure, an experience everyone should have!
